For contributions of the highest order. September 6, 1985.
Remarks of David Giovannoni
It is indeed a great honor to have my peers judge my work as being worthwhile.
Audience research and responsible public radio programming have become inextricably linked during the last ten years. Each is a service: research serves public radio, and public radio serves the public.
However, research is useless without public broadcasters who listen, care, and act. For this reason, each of you deserves to share in this honor. Our rewards for distinguished service come every time we tune in our programming, and every time our programming turns on a listener.
I thank you for the recognition and for the excellent programming that makes public radio the distinguished service that it is.
